Polyurethane O Rings Development Capability
Frequently asked questions
PU O-rings are circular polyurethane sealing rings used where higher extrusion resistance is required. PU O rings for hydraulic applications are fitted in cylinders, valves and fittings running at elevated pressure.
Yes. Non standard PU O rings are manufactured to a specified inside diameter and cross-section rather than a fixed size list. Custom PU O rings are developed from a drawing, a physical sample, or a stated groove dimension. Where an existing seal is being replaced, sending the old part allows the section and diameter to be matched directly.
PU O rings Shore hardness 60 to 95 covers the standard range. Lower hardness gives easier groove fitting and better conformity on imperfect sealing faces. Higher hardness resists extrusion into the clearance gap at elevated pressure. Confirm your operating pressure and groove dimensions and a matching grade is recommended.
Drawing based PU O ring development needs the inside diameter, cross-section and required hardness as a minimum.. Where these are not available, a physical sample of the existing seal is sufficient to start development.
