Frequently asked questions
PU rollers are polyurethane-covered rollers used for conveying, guiding and repeated-contact applications. PU conveyor rollers move and guide material along belt and roller conveyor systems. PU rollers for material handling are fitted at transport and contact positions where the roller face must grip without marking the product, and PU rollers for processing equipment handle repeated contact over long production runs.
Yes. Metal core PU rollers are produced by bonding polyurethane directly onto a prepared steel or aluminium core. The core is cleaned and treated before casting so the bond holds under continuous rotational load. Bore and face dimensions are machined after casting to hold the required running tolerance.
Yes. PU roller recoating and rebuilding strips the worn polyurethane from an existing core and re-casts a new cover onto it. This is usually more economical than replacing the complete assembly, particularly where the core is machined to a specific bore or has integrated bearings. Send the core along with the required grades and finished OD.
The hardness and surface options of these parts are selected on contact, load, speed and wear conditions at the application. These are supplied from Shore A 60 to 95. Softer covers give better grip and product protection, harder covers give better wear life under load.
Outer diameter, face width, bore and hardness are the minimum requirements. Custom OD and custom width PU rollers are produced rather than fixed sizes. If the roller is a replacement, sending the existing part or a drawing of the core allows the specification to be matched directly.
